I went with five Nigerian girls and one Eritrean girl to birthing class organized by ASL. What impressed me most? The simplicity by which they face it; they continue repeating people should not prepare too much!
Two cultures, two countries, but only one thing in common: a mother that sees a lost child and decided to take care of him.
Laura is a mother that noticed a far-searching-eyes little girl. She was taking her children to school that morning. She met this child that could not communicate with other children because she didn’t speak the same language. She felt “a feeling in her belly”. Then, she came closer to her.
"Since a few weeks there’s also a cultural mediator who helps us when it’s too hard to communicate with her. We meet Salim more and more often: in the morning, we’re always in a hurry to pick her up at her place, and we have a great time trying to teach her some Italian words on our way to school."
